the All-Mountain category quickly diverges more and more into
specific needs, our Asta series is poised to break through,
blurring the line between XC and light All-Mountain. With
4" rear travel and exceptional trail manners, the Asta
Comp offers one of the best values anywhere for a fast and
light full-suspension bike for racing, single-track and all
trail use.
The
Asta Race features a Shimano LX/XT drivetrain with newly
revised LX Rapidfire-Plus shifters and front derailleur
with XT on the rear. Shimano LX hydraulic disc brakes provide
excellent stopping while Manitou's beautifully matched Radium
RL rear shock (with Remote Lockout) and 100mm Sliver Super
Lockout fork (w/ air assist) smooth the rockiest trails.
The Asta's frame has been purpose-built for XC, singletrack
and fast trails with 4-bar type linkage, fully gusseted
front triangle and full cartridge bearing pivots. The Asta
frame now features a full 4" of rear travel and has
has been lightened for 2007. Geometry has been revised for
2007 to allow more room in the cockpit and an even more
stable ride.
And
we haven't skimped on the rest of the Asta Race's components,
either. It features a wheelset of integrity built with Sun
DS2-XC rims on exceptionally smooth LX hubs with with Centerlock
format for thedisc brake rotors. These are mounted with
lightweight Kevlar bead Maxxis Ignitor tires. The cockpit
is appointed with Ritchey Comp alloy handlebar, stem &
seatpost, as well as Shimano clipless pedals, WTB grips
and a WTB Pire V Race saddle.
