Atlas
[at-luhs] 1. a bound collection of maps. 2. (Classical
Mythology) a Titan condemned to support the sky on his
shoulders: identified by the ancients with the Atlas Mountains.
3. IBEX Bicycles' newest offering in a 5" travel single-pivot,
full-suspension All-Mountain bike with a go-anywhere attitude
that may have you searching your maps for the most remote,
most challenging rides you can find: sturdy like the Atlas
of myth and able to support both you and the whole broad
sky above you!
Our
new Atlas frame is tough as nails. That's the forte of single-pivot
designs. They're simple and rugged. Yet, in the past they've
been criticized for having too much pedal feedback. That
is a thing of the past with today's technically advanced
shocks like the Atlas Expert's Manitou Evolver ISX-4 piggyback
style air shock. The pivot placement is fine-tuned to minimize
pedal-bob and optimize climbing performance, while the Evolver ISX-4 rear shock is silky smooth on those downhill sections.
And
you have SPV looking out for you up front with a really
choice Manitou Minute Super SPV fork. This fork is a perfect
match for the Atlas Pro's frame and its' Evolver rear shock.
You've got 140mm of silky-smooth travel in the Minute and
the ability to finely tune it to your preferences with controls
for air compression, SPV pressure, SPV volume and rebound.
So
how about the components? The Atlas Pro uses Shimano XT
all around, expect for the rear derailleur that is upgraded
to XTR. That means XT Rapidfire shifter, front derailleur,
crankset, cassette, Centerlock XT hubs AND XT hydraulic
disc brakes. Any questions?
The
Atlas Pro makes no excuses. Period. It's a go anywhere,
do anything bike with a frame, suspension and component
mix that says it all!
