IBEX Bikes FAQ   (frequently asked questions)

Q: What is an Ibex?

A: Ibex (pronounced "eye-becks") - In nature, any of several varieties of mountain goats, usually exhibiting scimitar shaped horns - fast, powerful and sure-footed. In the cycling world, a distinctive brand of fine high-performance bicycles - also fast, powerful and sure-footed.

Q: Why are IBEX bikes so much less expensive than similar models
     in the local bike shops?

A: We manufacture our bikes to the highest standards and select top quality, brand name components, yet by streamlining the distribution process we are able to sell direct to the public at lower prices than the bikes you typically find in your local bike shops.

What our customers say...

Q: How does my new bike get to me?

A: FedEx will deliver your new bike to your door. We ship most bikes via FedEx Ground at a flat rate of $35 to locations in the Continental US ($20 for frames). Please see Buying Info for rates to Alaska, Hawaii, Canada and APO/FPO addresses. There are a few exceptions to this with certain models that have larger than normal carton sizes.

Q: How long does it take to get here?

A: Orders are usually shipped within 3 days. UPS transit times generally range from 3 to 7 days. Please see FedEx Zone Map for estimated transit time to your location (we ship from Alpharetta, GA 30004). Some packages will be shipped UPS or USPS as the need arises (sorry, no special service or selection requests). For UPS transit times see USP Zone Map.

Q: How hard is it to assemble?

A: Assembly is really quite easy. We fully assemble the bikes at the factory then remove only what is necessary for packing. Front wheel and seat (already mounted to seat post) usually install with Quick Release levers. Handlebar is set-up with all cables and controls installed but must be bolted to the stem and pedals must also be installed. Each bike includes a folding multi-tool and a pedal wrench.

Q: My fork is turned around backwards. Why?

A: Actually, it's not your fork that's backwards. With most IBEX models the stem is turned backwards for packing (the stem is the "dogbone" shaped piece that connects the handlebar to the fork steerer-tube). Leave the fork as installed. Loosen the side-bolts on the stem where it clams around the steerer-tube of the fork. Rotate the stem around so that it's pointing forward and then mount the habdlebar. On bikes with disc brakes, the front discs should be on the left side of the bike (same side as the rear brake). On bikes equipped with rin brakes, the brake calipers should be at the front of the fork.

Q: What if there is a problem?

A: We fully back our bikes. IBEX frames carry a lifetime warranty and individual components are guaranteed by the original manufacture anywhere from 90-days to 2-years (Shimano is 2-years). If you have a any problem we’ll do everything we can to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. See Warranty Info for details.

Item must be "post-marked" or return shipment otherwise physically initiated within 30-days of purchase date. A: Sorry, no. We do not produce a printed catalog. Our website serves as our catalog. This has the distinct advantage of being up-to-date at all times and helps us keep our cost down - savings that we reflect in our low prices!

Q: Should I order online or by phone?

A: We prefer that you place your order online, though we can accept phone orders. Orders placed online are processed faster and get shipped quicker. They also help us avoid mistakes.
